EMBER

Thirty-five minutes later, I walk into the summit flanked on both sides by two men radiating satisfaction, my face on fire and my body aglow. Twenty minutes wasn't nearly enough time with my mates, but we made the most of it, hiding away in an unused office in the back of Unity's town hall. We only shared the briefest of words of greeting before Rafe had my pants around my ankles. He bent me over a desk and took me hard and fast, and I came with my wrist in my mouth to try to keep from screaming. Jianyu had the decency to get my pants the rest of the way off my body, but mostly so I could wrap my legs around him as he slammed himself into me, the file cabinets rattling with the force of his thrusts.

As they accompany me through the door, I can't help feeling like all eyes are on me. Honestly, they probably are. No one knows I just got fucked within an inch of my life, but they probably assume something along those lines. Jianyu, Rafe and I have agreed to be discrete about our relationship for now, but everyone here witnessed the moment when the two princes claimed me as their mate.

Ignoring the stares--real or imagined--I look between the two of them. They each give me a nod in turn, and I have to clasp my hands tightly behind my back to keep myself from reaching out to them.

They separate off, each joining their respective delegations on opposite sides of the conference room where we're holding the talks. Rafe's aide's expression is as sour as it was this morning. Jianyu's assistant quickly engages him about some matter or another, and I swallow hard, again feeling insignificant, and like everything about our mating is an inconvenience for everyone involved.

I know full well that my mates would fight me on that, and I try not to indulge the entire line of thinking. Keeping my head held high, I move to stand against the wall with Amy and the other folks from Unity.

Of course, the minute I'm settled in beside her, Amy nudges me with her elbow. She waggles her eyebrows in pure intimation, and the heat on my cheeks rises to an inferno. I force myself to look away.

"Good chat with your mates?" she whispers.

I step on her foot, and she suppresses a yelp, but barely.

Moving to stand at the front of the room, Freya shoots us both a glance of warning. Our antics don't distract her from her purpose.

Tipping her chin up, she addresses the room. All chatter among the delegates dies down.

"Thank you, everyone," Freya says, her voice resonant, "for agreeing to join us today. And thank you again for your patience with the"--she quirks up a brow as she glances between the two princes and then at me--"unanticipated delays."

If it were possible for me to blush any hotter, I would, but as it is, I just suck in a rough breath and try to keep my expression neutral.
